Dan's Early Spring Lawn Tips
Tip #1
Mowing will stimulate the lawn to start growing, thus your lawn will
green up and become thick sooner.
Tip #2
Use nice days in early March to rake up leaves and debris.
Matted leaves and debris may cause damage to the lawn if left unattended.
Parkways and turf areas along sidewalks/driveways should be raked out
thoroughly then power sprayed to reduce salt and sand that has built up
over the winter. As temperatures warm-up salt from the street (and
some ice melt products) will damage the lawn.
Tip
#3
If you're intending on power raking your lawn, you must power rake
before the lawn turns green. Power raking a green lawn will damage
it.
Tip #4
Aeration is a must once a year in Spring or in the fall.
Call to schedule! Should be done after power raking and before
pre-emergent in Spring. Before seeding in the fall.
Tip #5
Watering the lawn after the spring thaw is a good idea. This
helps the lawn come out of dormancy quicker.
Tip #6
Seeding is best done in the fall. The use of pre-emergent in the
Spring stops the germination of seeds including grass seed.
